LENORA SHATTUCK CALVIN
The hearts of the people of the Trading Post community were greatly saddened on Thursday morning when it became known that Mrs. Lenora Calvin, wife of L.R. Calvin, had died early that morning of heart failure, at their home three miles north of Trading Post. While it was generally known that she had been ailing for a few days it was not until Wednesday evening that her symptoms became alarming. Two physicians were hastily summoned and all that loving hands could do was done but to no avail, and she continued to grow rapidly worse until one o'clock Thursday morning when she closed her eyes on all things earthly and went to join her loved ones gone before. Kind and loving by nature; one of the few who have no enemies; a loving wife and doting mother, this good woman will be sadly missed from our community.
Lenora Edna Shattuck, daughter of W.H. and Mary Shattuck, was born on their homestead three and one-half miles northeast of Trading Post on December 29, 1881 and died July 6, 1916, aged 34 years, 6 months and 7 days.
On November 1, 1905 she was united in marriage to Mr. L.R. Calvin. To this union three children were born, two daughters and one son, Opal aged nine years, Wilmer aged seven years and Dorothy age four.
Besides the husband and children, there are left to mourn her loss, an aged mother, three sisters and four brothers and other relatives and friends without number.
The funeral services were held Saturday morning at the family home conducted by Rev. Boicourt, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. The large concourse of sorrowing friends who gathered to pay their last tribute of respect and the many beautiful floral offerings bore evidence of the esteem in which this good woman was held.
The family desires to thank their many friends for their kind assistance and loving sympathy.
